This website is one of the outcomes of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Diaspora Engagement Project (DEP) project which contributes to the efforts of the Government of Ghana (GoG) to mobilize the country’s Diaspora toward its socio-economic development through dialogue and subsequent developmental engagements in Ghana.
Government and the Nigeria Society
The federal government of Nigeria is composed of three distinct branches: legislative, executive, and judicial, whose powers are vested by the Constitution of Nigeria in the National Assembly, the President, and the federal courts, including the Supreme Court, respectively.
Constitution: Adopted: 2011; Replaced the pre-existing 2005 Interim Constitution of Southern Sudan. The Constitution establishes a presidential system of government headed by a President who is Head of State, Head of Government, and the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
